Our favorite art event is back and it’s more hideous than ever! It’s the return of I Eat People: Children’s Monster Art. And it’s going to be terrifying! I guarantee it!
The idea for the event began with my young nephew and his interest in drawing scary monsters. I always wanted to have a small exhibit of his works but never had the chance to display them properly. Years later, my son, also a talented artist (that’s his work above) really shined with his own creepy creations and we had the first monster art exhibit in the classroom of Space 4 Art. What started out as a small exhibit has grown into a huge, hairy and lumbering beast of a show. Sharp teeth and knuckles dragging.
We will have the opening reception on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the community room of the Mission Valley Library at 3:00 p.m. The exhibit will stand for two months. The reception will also be a Halloween costume party and we will have monster art related crafts.
We’ll be accepting submissions for the exhibit starting October 01, 2018. Please check back for more details on how to drop off your child’s artwork. It’ll be an easy process, promise.
All media is welcome! Paintings. drawings, sketches are awesome, but they need to be ready to hang. Please no exceptions. We would also like to emphasize video, sculpture, sound-art and other 3D styled art as possible submissions. In addition to the community room, the library has graciously reserved two 15 foot cases that we will need to fill up with all sorts of fabulous grotesquerie.
Ages 3 -14 OK and the artwork must be appropriate for all ages.
Thanks for being a part of this monstrous event. It’s going to be so great!!
